Highlights from the 2014 Olivier Awards with MasterCard will once again be broadcast on mainstream television in a special programme to be presented on ITV shortly after the glittering ceremony at London’s Royal Opera House on 13 April.

The announcement is just one of many exciting updates to be revealed as the countdown to 2014’s glamorous event begins.

The ITV highlights programme builds on 2013’s inaugural broadcast and will enable theatrelovers to tune in to watch the evening’s most thrilling performances, emotional acceptance speeches and join the annual celebration of the talent seen across London’s stages.

Extending its partnership for 2014, ITV will also present the public Covent Garden Piazza event on the ITV stage. Now in its third year, the free outdoor party in celebration of theatre’s incredible achievements over the last year offers the public the chance to watch a live stream of the action as it happens just moments away from the Royal Opera House-based ceremony.

As well as a live big screen relay of the event, the Covent Garden audience will be treated to live performances from some of the West End’s most popular shows along with appearances from special guests, red carpet fashion tips and much more.

BBC Radio 2 continues to support the Olivier Award and will broadcast a special two-hour highlight programme at 18:00 on 19 April. Presented by television and radio star Claudia Winkleman, who is no stranger to the Olivier Awards having last year overseen proceedings at the Piazza event, the radio show will include exclusive backstage interviews and studio guests, as well as selected performances and speeches from the ceremony.

Alongside the incredible array of ways in which the public can engage with this April’s event, 2014 also marks the first time the Olivier Awards has partnered with theatrical charity Acting For Others; an organisation that offers emotional and financial assistance and support to entertainment professionals who have fallen on hard times.

To help raise money for this vital industry charity headed up by President Dame Judi Dench, the Olivier Awards will take over the home of its new fashion partner, Fenwick of Bond Street, on 10 April for a shopping event like no other. From manning the tills to taking charge of personal shopping, stars of the stage and screen will take over the historic shop from 18:00 to 20:00.

The all-important nominees will be revealed on 10 March at the Olivier Awards’ official hotel partner, Rosewood London. You can ensure you are the first to discover who has earned one of the coveted places on this year’s nominations list by following the Oliver Awards on Twitter and Facebook.
