Tell Us In 10: Tosh Wanogho-Maud

By RuthPublished 13 May 2026

In our profile series, Tell Us In Ten, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From how they got their start in the industry to their favourite shows, we want to know everything.

This time we’re chatting to Tosh Wanogho-Maud who is currently starring as Alternate Lola in Kinky Boots – the Olivier Award-winning musical which has strutted its way back to London for a limited season until July 2026.

1) My route into theatre was…

I grew up singing in the church, and then started attending my local theatre school on Saturdays. Andrew Lloyd Webber happened to be looking for kids for the original cast of Whistle Down The Wind, and I was lucky enough to be plucked from there – through which, I caught the eye of the late Sylvia Young, and the rest was history!

2) My West End idol is…

I actually don’t have a West End idol… but a vocalist I adore and try to channel in my vocal delivery is Fantasia Barrino. An actor I idolise is Colman Domingo.

3) My colleagues would describe me as…

The first to laugh when it’s entirely inappropriate (aren’t those the funniest moments, though?!).

4) My favourite show (that isn’t one I star in/work on) is…

Little Shop Of Horrors, of course!

5) The career moment I’m most proud of is…

Producing and putting together my own string of (sold out!) solo gigs.

6) The hardest part about my job/role is…

Sacrificing spending time with family and friends, in order to be show ready at all times.

7) If I wasn’t an actor, I would be…

A writer!

8) Something people don’t know about me is…

Before I made it as a performer, I used to work at the London Eye selling Jelly Babies by day, and dance at a members’ club in Tower Bridge by night.

9) The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

People might not remember you, but they’ll remember how you made them feel.

10) The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Being anything but yourself is doing not only you, but everyone around you, a huge disservice.

See Tosh as Lola in Kinky Boots, every Monday at 7.30pm, and Friday 26 June at 7.30pm. Get your tickets now!
